so after reading about scritti politti in 'rip it up and start again,' i decided to check them out ... and 'early works' has quickly won me over. that might not even be an official release, but it's basically 'early' plus a couple more songs. really great - love the basslines.

what's the best next place to go? the new one? If you're expecting any other Scritti Politti to sound like what you've heard on Early, you're going to be disappointed.

You know how there's good '80s production and bad '80s production? Um yeah, Scritti Politti were pretty much the standard-bearer for bad '80s production... so bad it's not even cool in an ironic way. I'm pretty sure everyone who's in love with Cupid & Psyche came by it when it was new, because it's hard to take seriously with so much time having passed.

ah, that's too bad. have you heard the new one? i saw that uncut called it the #2 record of the year (for whatever that's worth).
