Seriously. Matador and her artists are up for all sorts of awards. Bob Pollard is on the list for male artist of the year, but I had to give it to M.Ward. Tough decision, but Post-War was the fucking tits.
Vote here (http://www.plugawards.com/).
I voted, but I was really turned off by the shallow pool of nominees.

Why isnt Chan up for Live act of the year? This has been a great year for her live. The Barbican show earlier this year was the best show Ive ever been too.:)

Guess I'm either too indie or not indie enough 'cause there wasn't a single thing on there I could vote for with conviction other than YLT for "indie" album of the year, even though it's more like top five or so for me.
What on Earth kinda reasoning are they going by to determine "Album of the Year" vs. "Indie Album of the Year," seeing as how Dangerbird, Matador, SubPop, Vagrant and Warp have albums in both categories; sometimes the same album, in fact? YLT's IANAoYaIWBYA is the only album I own on either list.
I do own three of the metal albums ((the) Melvins, Nachtmystium and The Sword) but still haven't heard the new one from Agalloch (I'm a big fan, though). However, the new Drudkh, Mastodon, Unearthly Trance, Venom and Voïvod albums (and doubtless more that I'm forgetting) are all better than the three I have on their list.
Mission of Burma for best "punk" album? Uh . . . OK. It is a great record but . . .
Live act of the year doesn't offer The Gossip, so it's obviously bullshit (at least they got a nom. for song of the year).
Live Music Venue, Music Festival and Record Store are total bullshit categories as they're way too localized to allow any kind of realistic vote.
Finally, CDUniverse.com kicks ass all over Amazon.com and InSound.com yet weren't nominated while eMusic.com and iTunes were and they sell only downloads (unless I'm mistaken).
So, to sum up, what a load of crap.
The Plug awards are really just as shoddy an operation as the Grammys, be not fooled.

Wait, an award with somewhat arbitrary parameters isn't really very reflective of anything? SHOCKA!
I'm not gonna even waste my time linking over. sorry bitterfruit!

Honestly, the only reason I mentioned it was because Insound was one of the choices for best online record store. I found it funny, in a very childish way I suppose.

hahaha...
I'll put my two cents in and say that since Mr. HCI turned me onto CDUniverse, its become my main non-vinyl mailorder place. Fast, professional, great prices, incredible selection. There's no need to bother with much else.

CDUniverse is unbeatable, especially on release day when their prices are even better

It's nice to see them honor Malkmus' influence on modern music, pretty great award to recieve.
