Regarding the news item written about in the latest Matador newsletter, does anyone have any idea who Malkmus may be opening for in August? I'm trying to think of some big rock bands that should be playing around that time but I can't think of any.

I've heard rumors of Radiohead playing US dates in August. That's probably too good to be true.
I've heard Les Claypool from somewhere, I thought it was from this board.

Kenny Loggins and Hall & Oates are touring in August. Is it that?

Malkmus, via his web site's news section, confirmed that it is indeed Radiohead. Great news. He mentions Aug 12 - Sept 5 and a couple of cities, but nothing too specific about the shows. Does Matador have any more details?

I find this very exciting.

yeah, we heard about this too...though I was told it was top secret for a little while. I guess if SM can announce it on his website it isn't a big enough secret anymore (who does he think he is, Pitchfork?) but this isn't a bad pairing, is it?

Maybe Thom will join Malkie for a duet?

Mmm...I love this pairing. He even mentioned "Canadian dates" and I am now about to cream my pants.

Radiohead dates announced, and the Jicks are only opening on the first leg. L.A. gets Supergrass as an opener, but I was really hoping to see Malkmus and Co. Maybe a road trip is in order.
