Hi. I'd like to know if there is any possibility of Cat Power performing any songs from her earlier albums (dear sir, what would the community think, moon pix, you are free) in the London gig, she wil be performing on May the first, at the Forum? For instance, I don't know if there is any sort of understanding/contract or obligation of sorts, that demands of her a certain number of performances of her latest album, and being that "The Greatest" she would only perform that album throughout the tour. The other part of the question, is wether you think that her live-performances have evolved from (as has her recognition) small, intimate, cabaret-like gigs (where, i must painfully confess, the songs from her earlier albums are more suitable to be played) to wider spaces and crowds, thus using a side-band? Is it possible, first of all, to see Cat Power, solo? Secondly, is she ever goin' back to her former self? This question, relates to my personal fixation with some of her most genious masterpieces such as Rockets, Werewolf, Nude as the News, Moonshiner, No Sense, He War, Say, In This Hole, Metal Heart, Free, etc, etc; none of which did she play at the recent gig she did on my hometown (Lisbon, Portugal - Europe) at December the 4th, 2006. To conclude, I must add, that I'm a big fan of hers, and as such, would very much like to write her a letter of praise, congratulating her for her inspiring body of song-work.
But, I haven't been able to find a forwarding address to where I might write to (i tried both her website and

Quite recently she has incorporated Nude As The News and Cross Bone Style into her "band" sets.

Is it possible, first of all, to see Cat Power, solo?

Probably half of Chan's shows are still solo.

Secondly, is she ever goin' back to her former self?

I hope not, she seems very happy and contented doing what she's doing now. Not that I wouldn't love to see some more older songs being played.

I heard a cat power song in a documentary about heroin. I know this because it was the first time i ever heard cat power and got me into it. The end of this documentary the song baby doll plays.

I remember when it came on the music was so beautiful. I was gonna turn the tv off but i just couldnt, i had to listen to the whole song i was like captivated by it or something. so after that i found out about cat power. And i first saw the name Chan marshall i thought she was chinese LOL.

I know this has nothing to do with her music but I found this not long ago on a chinese site, I was not even looking for her.


It's a very nice name, it means Beautiful and graceful girl.....nothing more to add.

Oh yeah I also read in an Indian book that Chan meant also something about the Energy of Life, probably God in other words...wow Chan, your parents were cool. LOL

Didn't Chan giver herself that name? Changed it from Charlyn or something.
I remember in an interview her mother suggested she change it to Cher. HAHA
