Okay, every other Pave/SM related board is going NUTS because someone started a rumor that the JICKS played a whole set of PAVEMENT songs.

I won't believe it until I hear it for myself! If you taped it, I would be more than willing to let you pick whatever you wanted from my list (unlimited quantities).

And theres no way in hell that I'm sending a single disc until I hear that shit with my own ears.

If YOU started this rumor and are bullshitting me...I will do horribly nasty things to you.

......SEND US YOUR REPLY A S A P.

You stole my thunder, Mike B. It just seems too perfect to possibly be true. A chronological greatest hits show ??? Frontwards AND Shoot The Singer ??? Starlings AND Fin ??? Pavement fans couldn't get that lucky when they were in their prime. The guys from Silkworm jamming out The Hexx ??? Now that one I could see. I don't know what I believe. Help, Patrick !!! Or anybody else. BTW, you do a great job Mike.

I suspect this to be a hallucination on a grand-scale level.

Pretty amazing, if true. We're looking into it.

when sm played chapel hill, nc on may 10, it was like the drummer's birthday or something, and the drummer wanted to hear some good ole pavement songs. so like the keyboardist, mike clark, played some piano licks of pavement songs, and sm chimed in on vocals, and fans were treated to a nice little medley of some pavement gems, including rattled by the rush and a bunch of others that i can't remember at the moment. but this prob. isn't what you had in mind with 'the rumor.' was a highlight for me nonetheless...

That might be the worst written 8th grade-ish article that I have forced myself to read, simply because I was excited about the Jicks covering Pavement.

It's almost as bad as that fucker's writing from Who-the-fuck-cares, South Dakota that pissed Ben off.

Sure sounds like it's true. That's Steve singing, and surely not Pavement playing the songs. And it's completely Malkmus' style to go "Yeah, it never happened."

wow, thanks for the link. not the best quality, but still very cool ... i've certainly heard much worse. i actually got chills a couple times. incredible. sounds like it might have been all the jicks (except SM) taking lead on two states....

the crowd was really taking the lead on that one.

I haven't listened to the recording all the way through yet. It was a spur of the moment sort of thing, I knew I wouldn't believe it happened come the next morning so I just wanted a reminder. Until then, my clie was just a really pricey address book. even now it's not much more but heck, it's helping spread a little joy.

I am glad it's even listenable. enjoy.

Jen,

Great recording, sounds like you narrowly evaded the clampdown near the beginning.

Going to this gig was kind of like winning the lottery, no?
