Hi Chan Lovers
I still can't believe how quiet this place is.
I had not checked over here for a long time and just noticed new tour dates for the US and Canada.
Sensorika, she'll be in Toronto in July.
I think I'll go see her in Ottawa, at the blues festival...but I'd rather see her in Montreal but I don't see any dates yet for Mtl, so Patrick or anyone else, could you tell me if it's for sure that she won't come to Mtl this summer?
Ottawa is closer to me anyway, but the ambiance is never as nice...
But big thanks to Chan , it will be great to see her for the 3rd time in one year!:D
I have listened today for the 1st time to one of her shows and interviews in Amsterdam from 2000, what a great great person she is...yeah we all know.
I don't know if anyone remembers when she imitates the sound of owls and cats, that was pretty funny. I love her songs, but her interviews are even better I would say. I love the person more than the music.

Its a good thing Ottawa isnt to far from Montreal and they are partly french too im sure yourd have a good time. Otherwise you can always make a trip to Toronto and see her in my city.
But ya its summer so its good time to travel and see Chan.

hey
I'm closer to Ottawa than Montreal like I said, the thing is that Ottawa is known to be more quiet if you see what I mean. Less opium there haha just kidding...;)
and she'll be part of the blues festival so I had to purchase a ticket that includes 3 shows for 45$ including her and the Steve Miller Band and Guitar Explosion I think...that's too bad cause she might play less than last time because of that. I'd like to go to To too, but not this year I guess. This will make 3 shows in 1 yr, pretty unbelievable .
I found some decent pix on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/stang/650215334/in/set-72157600534202615/)
It looks like she played solo, lucky them :p
She looks great !

had mixed feelings about the toronto performance. Chan was amazing, she looked great and put her heart and soul into the performance. amazing live vocals. clearly i think being with a band on stage helps her feel comfortable enough to properly focus on performing.
there was a few things about the night that left me disappointed. so its official the old chan is gone. the chan marshall that has a minimalist style, with her haunting lyrics, soft and slow, depressing feel is finished. the chan marshall that made me love her music is over. she went from being a true artist to i dont know how to label her at the moment. i feel like i missed out on the true artist that is chan marshall. i never saw her perform any of the songs that all the cat power fans love her for. now she is a jazz/blues type singer. i like cat power because she stands out and is unique. she does not stand out as much as she used to, she is unique im sure as a jazz/blues singer but its not too hard to do that in this category. so yes the show i went to see was not what i expected and know cat power for. that was very disappointing. it wasnt bad mind you. she played amost all new songs i was not to farmiliar with, this i didnt like. the set was very short. it left everyone on the room feeling like we wanted more. people stayed and begged for an encore but it never came. the performance energy started high and builded up then died down at the end thats why i think it felt like it finished so empty. it ended on a low note.
also it got quite hot inside. there were no seats we had to stand for so long, i was dead tired at the end of it. so not to impressed with the venue.
im happy for her though because just by seeing that performance its clear her life has turned around. she is happy with herself and where she is in her life. i dont know what changed but it was a drastic. she will continue to excel as singer. but she will maintain her "greatest" style i think. her old music arose from her psychology and state of mind which is different now.

Hi again..
I know what you mean, I saw her the day after and didn't know what to post here about that show. Here it was shorter probably just because she was part of a blues festival and it had to end early at 11 pm and Steve Miller was playing after her. But she was great and I was in first row again so it was nice to see her. But I felt bad cause I wanted to film her too much again so I want to say to her that I am sorry if I have annoyed her along with many others in front row but I stopped doing it after 15 min or so....sorry Chan....we only do that because you are the best...
of course the music isn't the same but I'm confident that she'll do other solo shows in the future. I think next time , I would have to try to see her in the US to make different. But it was great anyway, I think there was more than 20 000 people at that festival after her show ended for Steve Miller and it was outside with a cool breeze...
whatever you do Chan, I like you better than your songs and that won't change. Also prettiest singer ever haha. As the guy on the keyboards said, you are "probably" the best female singer in the world right now. Your smile was priceless.
Oh I forgot that I was very sad too that I had missed her sound test, I arrived 2 hrs 1/2 before her show and she was doing it, I only was able to listen to 5 min of it before she left. Sad...there was only 2 or 3 guys there.
But thanks a lot again for coming again...always the best that life has to offer... :p ;)

Hey man. sounds like you had a good time which is great. dont get me wrong i had a good time too, but its just clear shes a different kind of singer now then before u know.
you think seeing her as a solo show in the states would be better?? If it is then i would consider going to see her there. would be nice to take a vacation now in the summer- im off for school.
But ya i think seeing her solo might be better too. She should do some solo shows- maybe for promoting her next album. but either way im gonna see her always when she comes to Toronto. ITs my mission in life to hear metal heart live i can die peacefully when i do lol.
and ur right she is so beautiful. she looks amazing, not just her beauty but her spirit, she seems very happy u know.
Hey chan is greatest do you have msn or something? you seem like a cool person to talk to.
anyways later.

sorry man
I was not ignoring you
I was ignoring the whole forum LOL
I don't go on msn much anymore but I could leave you an address.
I saw a look-a-like of Chan 2 days ago at work, I thought I was going to die. Not as pretty of course...but still very nice. It reminded me of when I was close to Chan, so you know how I was feeling. :p
You are right about the beauty of her spirit, this is what I meant too of course. She's like a beautiful flower blooming more and more everyday. And we are the bees taking what we can from her, and she never stops giving...
