This is my first post on the site and l I dont want it to be a bad one but...
Did any one else go to ATP this year and see Chan. If you did please could you tell me where you stood. This is not because some cutie caught my eye- though loads did- it is to do with the sound. The sound seemed to get worse the closer to the stage you got. Did anyone else find this as it appeared fine for the other bands, also to many covers.

Yep this is true. In brussels I was first row and the sound wasn't that great. Sometimes you could barely hear her voice.

Yes i was at the ATP show at the front on the right, kind of infront of the guitarist. I thought the sound wasn't very good but then i don't think it was for any other act on that stage either. It was too big and the sound just got lost and muffled, i really like the dirty three but they really didn't suit that big stage they sound much better in a smaller venue where the sound is sharp and focused.

Her vocals were a bit quiet, worse than they were at the roundhouse in london and i wasn't overly impressed with the sound there. I really enjoyed all the covers though - it's a taster of the new record i imagine.

It sounds like i'm really fussy about sound quality from this post but i'm really not i don't usually think of it.

I was on the right as well. I was also stood there for Shannon Wright and it sounded great for her. I think that as it was loud it suited her style and she completely blew me away. Also, did you get into see Bill Callaghan, Olives I couldnt as the que was huge fter CP finished

Yes i almost ran up to see Bill callahan after CP and got to the front for that too which was AMAZING wonderful sound, tight band and a nice view of Joanna Newsome dancing around to the songs just off stage, a lovely moment.

I thought Josh T Pearson was amazing also (just saw him again in Manchester last night) he was one of the best things there. I didn't see Shannon Wright unfortunately.

I believe Grinderman were playing at the ATP festival, could anyone tell me how the songs were live? And also how were The Dirty Three?

was a bit dissapointed with grinderman, no songs stood out. The Dirty Three were good but the sound got lost a bit (see my above post)

Smog and Josh T Pearson were my favourites, and Mantana Roberts a saxophone player from chicago who improvised for an hour, v intense

I would have to say though, it looks like one of the best festival line ups i have seen for a long while.
I mean Nick Cave, Cat Power, The Dirty Three, Mick Harvey, Conway Savage, The Scientists, Jim White, EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN, Ed Kuepper, The Drones...
Many of these acts are some of the best Australian acts to have ever come from down south, of course without many other great persons/ bands such as Tex Perkins, The Saints, Rowland S., Tim Rogers...
I hope in general apart from the sound problem these acts were appreciated in some way.

It was a brilliant festival, lovely weather, no good bands on at the same time that you had to miss and some really interesting acts i'd never heard of before.

there is always such a nice atmosphere there, nowhere else would you see Warren Ellis's kids running around at the back of the grinderman set

The very first time I ever saw Chan play Warren was supporting her and his kids were running about even then.:)

a little BIGGEST FANS CONCERT ATTENDANCE 101 FOR ALL YOU:

-sound is always worst at the very front. all you get are stage monitors, (mixed for the performer, not the audience), and amp volume.

see where the main speakers are? on the sides of the stage, not the front and center.

if you want good sound, stand in front of the sound board. if you want to see the sweat off ms. marshalls brow, then you stand in front. BUT do not expect good sound there.

What concert are you talking about ? AB or Cirque Royal ? I stood in front row in the Ancienne Belgique and indeed, the sound was not great but being so close to Chan made me accept it much better.
