Can you explain why non-US/Canadian buyers can no longer order from the Matador store for this New P's deal and indeed other stuff? Will there be an equivalent deal for the New P's album in Europe? (I live in the UK).

so is the guy who sends the link to the stream out of the office today? i ordered this morning. i know it said to allow 48 hours, but i assumed that was just in case people ordered on the weekend. i was trying to avoid downloading the web rip that's out there.

That guy's me. And i'm in the office. I'm dumping the names starting at 5 everyday. So if you ordered before 5 on a weekday you'll get your code around 5 that day. If you ordered after 5, you won't get it until 5 the next day.

So you should get yours any minute.

Here's an update to the ever-popular "the email says it shipped" issue:

To recap, when we send out codes to people who ordered from the Matador store, an automatic email was generated that said "your order shipped" when it should have said "your order shipped or you gained access to a preorder stream." The email was actually being generated by our merchant processing service, and according to them the text of it was absolutely uneditable--kinda ridiculous, no?

Anyway, after some back and forth we finally got them to just turn off the notification emails altogether, and we're now handling all ship notification ourselves. So going forward the emails should explain the situation rather than confuse it. If anybody has any further questions, feel free to drop a line to buyearlygetnow@matadorrecords.com

Was the first exclusive b-side released today? There's a download button on the right-hand corner at the bottom of the page (which I don't believe was there last week), but I get an error message whenever I click on it.

The first exclusive B-Side from The New Pornographers' "Challengers" is running a little behind schedule after being held up in customs at the Canadian/US border.

No, it's not that the decency of the band was called into question--after three of the best rock albums to come out of Canada since, what, Bachman Turner Overdrive, they were familiar with the poptastic (and fully clothed) exploits of A.C. Newman and company. What held it up was when we told them "This track is hot!" and they took it entirely the wrong way.

At any rate, you can expect to hear it for yourself shortly. We're getting it ready now, and an email will go out in the next day or so to let you know when it's available for download.

I can't find a store near Boston that participates in this (seemingly complicated process).

I ended up just ordering from the executive edition from Matador Store directly. It seems to me that you might be losing people who don't find a store near them that just assume they're out of luck.

Some people might not think to order from the Matastore directly. And the process itself seems quite complicated for non-technical users in my humble opinion. Maybe a Google map, use a wizard, if stores > 20 miles away from $user_zipcode --> buy from Matador directly?

you log in then click "get your stuff" in the right-hand pane and then scroll the bottom pane down a bit where it says "First B-Side: The Speed Of Luxury " and there's a button that says "download".

Can anyone tell me if it's safe to burn flac files onto a CD? I'm unfamiliar with that format and don't want to ruin my Execution Edition CDs when I receive them.

It depends on what you're using to burn it. To be on the safe side, it's probably best to convert them to WAV (which wouldn't hurt the quality any) before burning.

This BEGN is outstanding. My executive edition arrived this morning, and it probably should be called execution edition (per red medicine's post) because it flippin' slays*. Fantastic job.

*I can't even imagine that coming out of my mouth IRL but it seems appropriate here :o
