On Best Buy's website, they list a 'bonus CD' of unreleased material will come with the first 20,000 copies of "Happy Songs".
Does anyone at Matador know if this is true?

I highly doubt it(Rob from brightlight! had a good point about the whole subject), but one can dream, right??

I believe it's an enhanced CD that contains seperate tracks for "Hunted by a Freak," so you can re-mix the song yourself.

No... I know about the enhanced CD part. The site lists that as well, in addition to the 'bonus CD'. I'm mostly thinking it's just BB's screw up, since they've done it before on other releases...

The first 20,000 copies include a bonus CD with unreleased material.

This is an Enhanced CD, which contains regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files.

That's how it looks on their site...

No big deal... just wonderin'

CD Universe says the same thing... maybe it includes "Sad DC," the Japanese Bonus Track currently avaialble on Mogwai's offical site??? or maybe it DOES have new songs, and Matador is keeping their lips shut like with the Jicks bonus CD.

There will be no bonus cd with unreleased material. At the time our distributor (ADA) went to press with their new release book we believed that there would be a value added cd with the first 20k copies. We are currently working to update and correct the information that was entered in retail databases. Apologies for any confusion .

Best,

Rusty

so that begs the question....what was gunna be on the bonus cd???
was it 'gwai stuff, or a label sampler or something??
and why was it canned?

and if it's good stuff, where can i get a pirated copy?

There were suggestions of putting together some live recordings from various eras, but it didn't come together.

what a pity....

but i thought the boys hated the idea of a live album......

anyways...just save yaself some waiting and get a copy of the complete non-webcast version of the lee's palace gig from 27/5/2002....it's fucking ace.

the May 28th 2002 show is a lot better, includes "C#" and "Star Wars," and the sound quality is incredible.

shall we have an argument about this then......

the 27th show also includes these new songs....and also nursery aka golden porsche...

there are several versions of the 27th floating round.....some which don't include the new songs....and others with inferior sound.......

i can't really compare since i don't have the 28th, but i was recommended getting the 27th over the 28th cause of the sound quality.

well i downloaded the 28th off soulseek, and that version is nowhere near the quality of the 27th....
sure, it's not to bad, but just not as good.

so is this the same recording you talk about, or a different one?

this extra disc (although it would have had to have been a DVD) would have been the perfect opportunity to release either the "Take Me Somewhere Nice" documentary or even the footage released on the Happy Music... promo EPK
