I've never heard of this band until today when I saw one of their CD's (Robot World) in the used bin. I noticed that the album was released by Matador and was wondering if they are any good?
Also, I was reading their wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bailter_Space) and was wondering if there's some sort of beef Matador had with the band?

No beef whatsoever.

I gotta disagree with Wikipedia about the Gordons; they were not more angular than Bailter Space. If anything, BS were much more robotic and angular and lost, IMO, the emotional power they had under their first name.
They are more than any good, their records are great. "Robot World" is a fantastic record. You should get it. The Gordons are great too, possibly better than Bailter Space, but no need to take sides really.

Really great, idiosyncratic guitar band. Which is saying a lot.

I guess that is a fine way to, at the very least, revive this thread. However, to quote the brilliant Yukki Gipe, you are DEAD WRONG.

OK Dave. Points for the Bullet Lavolta reference. I didn't even know you were a fan!
Poll: which is the best Bullet Lavolta song?
a. Overloaded Circuits
b. X-Fire
These are the only two choices.

I'll vote for b. 'X-Fire', only because I don't recognize 'Overloaded Circuits'
by title alone, but I can hear 'X-Fire' in my head just at the mere mention of the name of the song. Great, great band.....
