Okay, so I've been immersing myself in Dylan as of late. Watched for the umphteenth time the "Subterranean Homesick Blues" from "Don't Look Back." See:

Anyways, Times New Viking first record "Dig Yourself" conspicoulsly takes its title and cover art from Dylan. Which is great! They got Bob Dylan with a blindfold on the cover of their record!

So, what about Pavement? Where does that name come from? While watching the Dylan video again, seeing him hold up the "Pavement" poster while hearing about "John's in the basement mixing up the... I'm on the pavement..."

I'm not sure where I'm going with this, but it's on my mind.

Jimmy Buffet got "Cheeseburger in Paradise" from that time he saw Dylan eating a cheeseburger

You refuse to stop harshing mellows.

(EDIT: p.s. Ben, Cat Power covers 'Paths of Victory' on that Covers album of hers. It's highly recommended.)

The "Paths of Victory" cover is fantastic. She also wore a Dylan T-Shirt in a New Yorker photo spread a couple of years ago. The photo was... revealing, for lack of a better word.

I've always been curious about this too: the lettering/font of the word 'pavement' in the Dylan video matches the lettering the Matador band has used on at least one occasion. FYI: Dylan used white cardboard backings from dress shirts in his video...

And Malkmus quoted "It's Alright, Ma (I'm Only Bleeding)" in Jo Jo's Jacket and Dylan referenced Yul Brynner in 'I Shall be Free"...coincidence? I hear Stephen heard a couple Dylan albums in college.

I noticed Dylan used the words "Guided" "By".. and, get this, "Voices" throughout his career! not just singing, but, like, in conversation! And the nurse at the school where Bob Pollard taught was named Zimmerman...

coincidence?! I THINK NOT!

a little bird told me that both Malkmus and Dylan are musicians: Matador, confirm or deny
