Just got around to reading the April/May issue of Magnet with Interpol on the cover. Matador got quite a good amount of press out of that issue, huh?
The article on Interpol seemed to be one of the better written and more interesting ones than the standard fare available previously.
I really didn't know how different those guys really are. Dengler is total fruitloop, but I can relate immensely.
I read the article on a flight back to the dreaded Atlanta swampland that I currently call home. Reading the article forced me to play TOTBL immediately after arriving.
It was refreshing to listen to it again after what seemed like quite a long time. Anyone know when more Interpol material is due to be recorded?

Those hard-working guys are finishing up their US radio festivals this weekend, then heading to Europe for festivals there (Glastonbury, Roskilde), followed by trips to Australia and Japan (Summer Sonic Festival), then BACK to the UK for Reading in August, with more European dates, and a third full North American tour in September-October (hitting Canada a second time).
Then aside from much-needed R&R they plan to sit down and write... and record... so hopefully we're looking at a second Interpol album sometime in 2004.

Why all the European touring dates? Why can't we get a little love?

You'll get plenty come the fall - those guys have toured the US coast-to-coast twice in the past 9 months, after all.
Plus summer is the European (and Japanese) festival season, and prime Australian touring season (winter).

I'll pass it on to the band...
By the way, to all the Canadians out there, our bands and their booking agents are aware that there are more than 3 cities in Canada, it's just really hard to make the routing work moneywise and timewise with the long drives across the Canadian West.
But you guys in Manitoba, Alberta and Saskatchewan are still highly appreciated! As are those of you in the Atlantic Provinces, who see our bands... like... never. Wish I could do something about this, but tours are largely out of the label's control, and subject the ferocious economics of club tours anywhere. Hopefully we'll see more bands hitting your cities in the upcoming years since our distribution has improved so much in Canada.

Patrick Also, make sure the gigs are all-ages, if possible. Thanks.
I'm still sort of aggravated that I can't see The New Pornographers because I'm not legal.
No hard feelings to the label though, I still love you guys to death (death, maybe).

It's nice to know you even have an idea we exist. We would absolutely love to have the whole roster tour across the Canadian West, and I would venture out to Calgary or Edmonton to catch Interpol if they didn't come to my town. Anyway, thanks for the recognition, it's good to see you know we're here.
