View Full Version : Problems with discs 2 and 3???
Hey,
I just got my deluxe edition in on saturday and it seems the extra discs won't play in any cd player i've tried, nor do they come up on i-tunes... on every cd player i've tried it simply says NO DISC when i put them in and nothing at all happens in my car's cd player.
I was just curious as to if anyone else is having these problems and what should i do? i ordered the discs directly from matador.
thanks. the album itself is great by the way!

they're blank CD-Rs, you burn the music yourself.
ha ha ha! that's funny! i'm stupid... where's the link to the mp3s?
There are only a couple of songs available to download at the moment, but over the next few months you will get every b-side and demo connected to "Challengers" and a live album as well as videos and other visual treats.
When all of the material that makes up each disc is complete there will be a notice on the Buy Early Get Now website saying it is time to burn that respective disc. So don't go burning anything onto those discs until it's time or your super cool box set will be a little less super cool.
Ok, hope that makes sense.

Completing my assertion, respectfully, that this BEGN was too complicated.

bf, you're right, I think we bit off more than we could chew. With each of these initiatives the ground moves under our feet between planning and execution as the marketplace changes and it becomes clearer what stores (for example) will and will not do.
I do think that ultimately people are gonna end up with a really nice package though. Meanwhile, it's been getting some great press:

Do you know how many more of these b-sides we can expect? Have they already all been recorded?

commend you for trying to figure it out. suggestion: offer downloads of the album, instead of streams, once payment for the physical cd is made. i'm sure this is going to piss off someone (i.e. apple), but it would be a great move.

i really like the executive edition idea. i didn't realize that i would be getting packaging and labeled cdrs for the bonus discs. very cool imho. i thought i'd have to use my own cdrs jewel cases and such.

This would probably save us a lot of hassle.

I didn't think it was complicated at all, and I honestly can't think of an idea that has ever been much cooler. If the idea HADN'T been so cool, I probably wouldn't have bothered preordering.

I can see where the appeal is limited, but as far as I'm concerned, every album in the world should be sold this way.

I agree. One thing I am a bit miffed about - I paid $20 for the preorder because I thought it was supposed to be limited and special. Now I see that Amazon features the box part of it for $4, which means that I could have gotten the whole thing for about $16. Oh well, live and learn.
