I've seen 'em three or four times but the last time was a decade ago. You should most definitely go. I bought my ticket to the Atlanta show the day they went on sale.
definitely go. It has been a decade since I've seen them as well, in Atlanta no less. I would guess a lot of the live material would be culled from the last couple/few records, but one never knows with MES. I seriously considered the five hour drive, but my schedule doesn't permit.
I've seen them in fall 2001, and it was... good and they played their new and also old material, but I was quite shocked about Mark E. Smith's appearance. He looked as if he'd just escaped from a geriatric care center and acted on stage like a weird dictator. Quite sad to look at, to be honest. But well, he's a legend, so I'd say: go and see them...
I saw them Friday night. I wasn't really too impressed. They played a lot of newer stuff as well as a few old ones. It wasn't horrible though. I agree with the wierd dictator thing. He actually reminds me of an evil college professor giving a lecture on stage.

How were the other shows?
Unfortunately, I missed the Mogwai/Trail of Dead show. But the Yo la Tengo show was fucking great. There was a completely different crowd for Le Tigre, which is understandable(who pretty much all left before YLT). The Clean were also amazing, but they didn't play for very long. Did you end up going to ee Blonde Redhead?

No; couldn't do it. I may try and catch Calvin Johnson tomorrow night, but I'm not positive. I've never been to the Echo before so I'd be interested to check it out.
Thanks for the review. Tough break with the Fall show.
The Echo isn't too bad. It's just basically a bar w/ a stage in the corner. Calvin is always a good show though.
