Vh1 and their damn top 100 blah-blah-blah crap with stupid musicians and nerdy rolling stone writers seeing how many times they can use the words "amazing" and "incredible" in one show.

It also seems like they get people who have no idea what they are talking about rating these things. Like DMC talking about Anie Lennox, c'mon now. The Goo Goo Dolls on the Ramones, it's totoally ridiculous. I figure they could call Malkmus, Thurston Moore, I know they have to have some other people to ask about these things other than the current Top 40. Some of these people only know the song because it was in a car commercial, "Yeah, Nick Drake, that was great Volkswagon diddy he came up with" Horrendous!!!!

But. atleast they did have Albini for the Hard Rock list

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that even people as lame as Thurston Moore and SM have better things to do with their time than talk about "The One Hundred Greatest Hard Rock Bands of All Time."

Steve Albini, on the other hand...

Steve Albini was on the Hard Rock thing? Crazy?

VH-1 is indeed a shit fest. Especially since CBS and Viacom amalgamated. It wasn't much better before, though.

VH1 needs some serious help. Anyone seen their "Movies that Rock"? I think originally the idea was to show movies that had something to do with music...now they just show random movies.

All of the lists I have seen have been poorly chosen. It reminds me of the days in the 90's when MTV would have lists of the 100 best music videos and Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" would be number one. Closely followed of course, by Guns N Roses "November Rain." Who picked those lists anyways?

I have to admit I was secretly addicted to that "I Love the 80's" series for a while. They showed the friggin thing practically every day for months and somehow I would get sucked into watching it even after I had already seen them all. Mostly because Michael Ian Black kicks ass.

"sledgehammer" is a great video, especially coming out when it did. the technology's gotten much better, but i can't think of too many videos as inventive as that one.

then again, i also can't remember the last time i saw a music video. (unrelated, i'm also not sure when i last watched MTV.)

One of my best friends has "VH1 Classic" and that's always a really enjoyable watch, if for no reason but that they show videos actually.
