View Full Version : nyc mbbeverages II
as many of you may have heard, fiona is back in town this week, meaning it's time to turn off the computer and rally out of the house for a solid three or four hours of cold beer drinking and hot gossiping action with fellow mbbers.
the somewhat firm/flexible plan is as follows:
date: this sunday, september 16th
time: 4pm til... <----- (UPDATED TIME)
location: bohemian hall & beer garden (in astoria, queens!?)
directions and additional details: http://www.bohemianhall.com/home.htm
all mbbers, matador brass, and loved ones are welcome. if there are other location or time suggestions, feel free to float them here. who's in?

OK, well let's not fuck this up. Reservations for the correct private room at the right bar with the best selection of songs are fully necessary.

yeeeeeeeesss! as far as karaoke, i'm not even sure where to go for a private room, because i like to sing FOR THE ENTIRE BAR, but i'll do a little research.

Earl Grey is coming along again.
Pawnbroker & Mrs Pawnbroker have also confirmed, will be joining us after the Mets' game.
Re karaoke: anywhere with Kenny Rogers' greatest hits is good with me.

Dudes, I'm not gonna be able to make it till 5/6. Does that mean you're all gonna be sloppy and shit?
vesper

naw, i'll probably be the only one getting sloppy on a sunday.

with the pawnbrokers at the mets' game, it doesn't sound like they are going to be there early either. maybe we can push back to, say, 4pm, if that works for earl grey and vesper. that would be okay by me. thoughts?
by hour three, vesper should be doing the robot again. fiona is sloppy like 24-7.

i'm fine with pushing it back to 4 or so. oh, and i assume that there aren't any late-night plans for that night, correct? if so, i won't be able to partake.
okay, let's say 4pm is the fluid new start time.
vesper:
fiona asked me to ask you if you got her text. apparently, she's new to the cell phone technology. i would have pm'ed you this urgent message, but your mailbox is full.

hey all - coming to this discussion a little late (i've been underwater w/ school-related stuff for a while), but i will be there tomorrow. unfortunately (well, fortunately), i am part of a 6:45 reservation at luger's for a friend's birthday. so i won't be able to stay long, but i will definitely be there. looking fwd to it!

I've had a budding cold all weekend, and am currently relaxing with a sore throat, so I don't know if I'm going to make it! Which sucks. We'll see if I'm able to pull myself together.

sorry to have missed it today! 9000, i sent you a text msg, hopefully you got it. unfortunately, the luger's trip kinda squeezed it out when i got delayed in the afternoon. hope it was a good time though.
luger's was fantastic. it always is, but today was something else. stuck to the basics - medium rare, bacon and an onion roll to start, spinach and potatoes on the side, chocolate mousse cake to close. i was really keen on trying the lamb chop, esp. since i think patrick really liked it once, but no one wanted to join me and it sounded too big for just me. next time.
i feel very full.

Glad you enjoyed Luger's. I had a great time with Fiona and 9000, not to mention Pawnbroker and vesper!
Still suffering from cold, but hanging boldly with Fiona!

things must have really come unhinged when you two were at your computer at 2am... wtf?!
good times, indeed. great seeing everyone again and meeting patrick and the pb's for the first time. sorry you couldn't make it earl grey; i passed along your message to the group. vesper, i hope you're faring a little better this morning. fiona, you'll have teach us that trick where you put your hand on the dart board and don't get hit by any darts. incredible.

I'm still working on that trick where you sit on a barstool and don't fall off it.
The mother of all time-bomb hangovers hit on Monday night at about 8pm. I haven't been that drunk in years.
Had a great night - great to see everyone! Not sure how much I was seeing at the end of the night, mind.
And Patrick, hope you're feeling better.

I am not a good influence, and neither is 9000. I'm still in the grip of my cold. Nonetheless in the end a good time was (I think) had by all!

yeah, next time we all go out I'm going to have to remember that my 120 lbs, while able to handle some abuse, ultimately can only take so much when assisted by a slice of a pizza and a couple fries. but still! awesome time.
and let's hope that more people join us in the future!
judging by the number of people who got sick, i'd say we had a very successful outing. i'm already scouting out a location for next time. not only will we be able to get 5 drinks for $10, but patrick will also get to see two of his favorite bands: murphy's law and agnostic front.

wait, people were getting sick AT the drinks night? jeez!

haha "people." unless someone else had a rough night later, i think it was more like "person."
i saw the darts guy from the pitstop standing in front of the bar on my corner today. this was at around 8 am.
Fiona
12-14-2007, 06:09 PM
No way! Which one? The guy who was throwing the darts or the guy suspect A was throwing the darts at?
as far as i'm concerned there was only one person, mbbers aside, worth remembering: the guy who taunted us to throw darts at him. the more i got thinking, i may have also seen the same guy a few months ago sprawled out on my corner after he got hit in head with a bottle. a dart to the hand would have been nothing in comparision to that mess.

I so regret not staying later.
Of course, I wasn't saying that the next morning.

That was a truly memorable and actual old-style NYC moment of weirdness.
