I was recently trying to order Ride the Fader from Amazon, but it said that they're completely out of stock (theres a guy on the amazon auction site thats selling a copy for $40). Same with Barnes and Nobles. I ordered it from Matador's store a couple of days ago but have yet to receive a shipping notice (so Im wondering if you guys even have any more to send). Has Ride the Fader gone out of print?

I beleive the digipak version is out of print, and the jewel-case version is in print and a Matador Mid-Priced Classic.

This is correct, and has been causing confusion for years.
The out-of-print mini-gatefold version was OLE-200.
The currently-available jewelcase version is OLE-1200.
It's actually a Low-Cost Classic (9.98 list), so don't pay more!

I had the same problem like a month ago, and insound said that they were completely out of Chavez cd's. They never told me but I had to e-mail them and they gave me like some discount code for anything in the store. Those folks at Insound are great.
That said, if you can't find it, wait a while. I ordered 'Ride the Fader' and 'Gone Glimmering' for like $8 a piece on amazon used. Surely someone will sell them again soon.

Im a bit confused, if its still available, then how come Insound is out? If I cant get it at the insound Matador store, where can I get it new (Ive had too many bad experiences buying used cd's over the net with scratches and stuff)?
I don't know.
First, I would e-mail Insound and see if they have any in stock. They will get back to you within the same day, they are really good folks over there.
Secondly, if they are out you really should just be patient and wait for a sub $10 copy to come across Amazon or another trading place. I know that I have ordered Spoon's Telephono, Chavez's Gone Glimmering and Ride the Fader, and Walt Mink's El Producto on amazon and each disc has been scratchless and spotless.
Hopefully insound will have some, or get some soon; but I have noticed at all of the local record stores around here are completely out of Chavez cd's. That includes Best Buy and the independent record stores, so I have a bad feeling about these still being in print. I will say that if you do get a copy 'Ride the Fader' is pure genius and you will fall in love with it in no time.
Sorry if I created more confusion than help.
It is still in print and available (ole-1200-2, the jewel case version, only the packaging is different FYI).
It may be a supply and demand issue at the stores, they order a couple and they sell right away, in the meantime you have to wait a few days for it to be replenished.
There should be no problem with Chavez CDs on the Matador store or from Insound. I have personally filled orders for the Matador store on both Chavez titles within the last week. Order away, it's fun and easy.
