Any updates to the Pavement site within sight?

Also, I noticed that at the end of the "Slow Century" documentary, there is still a PO Box address for Pavement. Who would actually look at the mail if someone sent something there?

I have a feeling it would be Spiral Stairs.

I believe Spiral is the only one who still in any way maintains any sort of presence as "Pavement." Not that he makes music as that, obviously, but that he's the only one actively still running the site, checking the mail, helping with the DVD and reissue, makign plans for future Pave memorabilia etc.

SM is busy Jickin' about, Ibold's busy waiting tables or bartending or something, Westy's busy being a weird motherfucker, and Bobby N. is busy tour managing for SM (if he's still doing that) and being a Kentucky horseracing gentlemen...

So Scott's the one holding down the pave fort.

all of this is speculation, but I believe somewhat informed speculation...

It seems like while Malkmus is busy enjoying his new creative freedom to put cheesy synths in his music and sing about love, and the rest of Pavement are getting on with their respective lives, that Scott is the only one who is actually still trying to "hold down the pave fort." by keepin up the site, helping with the DVD, etc... which is very cool. I would be psyched if Spiral's wish of reissuing CR, CR comes true like some people have been saying.

I think Wowee is due before CRCR, but I could be wrong.

I appreciate what Scott is doing. But it's like when Pavement first started--didn't Scott release the first Pavement record while Malkmus was in Europe?

I believe that's right...

yeah, poor Scott always gets pooh poohed in favor of SM, but really, he's the one who got all the shit started. He named the band too...

Did anyone see that part in the DVD when Malkmus is yelling at the band and ends the tirade by saying, "I *am* Pavement!"?

Talk about edgy…

Surely that was tongue-in-cheek!

Which part of the DVD does he say "I am Pavement..."? I must've missed it... is it during the documentary?

it's from the original Amazon review, along with the DC Berman having sex with a sheep thing. IE: not on the DVD.

Yeah, it is one of the easter eggs. Here is how you find it:

When Bob is being interviewed in Malkmus' pad, Malkmus rudely interrupts (it's all about *you* Stephen, isn't it) to give a UVA football score. When that happens, a tiny scoreboard appears in the lower right portion of the screen (you need to watch the DVD on a 16:9 format television to see it) that says, "S.M.: 15.6 — Doctor Drop: nil" Click on it and that will bring you to the tirade.

Keep watching, and you'll witness an after-concert backstage party where a very intoxicated Malkmus relentlessly hits on a bashful Justine Frischmann.

And also, the truth behind Ibold and S.M.'s relationship during the time the "Range Life" video came out is revealed in this same easter egg.

Man, my view of Pavement keeps changing after each view of this DVD.

crcr would necessarily come first, if we're going in order of releases. crcr is 94, wz! is 95....

It's not about being funny at all. It is all about trying to get the magical "insane poster" status...

that's true in the chronological sense, but that doesn't always happen. pitchfork has wowee zowee mysteriously listed for re-release in the "release dates section"

sorry, but i've gotta back up timo on this one.

just to keep up: pavementtherockband.com seems up for grabs.
what gives? i mean, i know the band is over and all, but "this site will be offline until further notice" was so comforting to so many. that phrase should've made it into a song on pig lib: it conjures up one specific and several unintentional images, none of which i care to elaborate.
