You guys should consider bundling Earthquake Glue with another GBV release to attract sales of older and newer records. Newer GBV fans might be encouraged to try something new along with something old for a reasonable price.

isn't Alien Lanes already a cheap CD? put em together for $20, you've got a hell of a deal.

Actually, bitterfruit, you've anticipated us.

First, as the previous poster noted, both "Alien Lanes" and "Under The Bushes, Under The Stars" (in my, admittedly prejudiced, opinion, two of the best GBV albums) are both mid-priced at 11.98.

Second, we will have a 9.98 Greatest Hits out in November simultaneously with a 5CD+DVD Box Set and DVD separate issue. If all goes as planned.

Best

thanks for mentioning the boxed set, Patrick. people keep asking about it on the GBV BBS.

the dvd's supposed to be watch me jumpstart or some live set right?

forever since breakfast is to be in there as well?

**EDIT: and, i agree that Alien Lanes is by far my choice for GBV's best album, but i'm not the biggest fan of UTBUTS**

are there any plans to make the boxset available in 10xLP + 35mm print alongside the 5xCD + DVD?

in other news, UTBUTS is awesomer than awesome, probably my favorite, actually, oddly enough. I would think that Bee thousand would beat it, but I listen to UTBUTS so much more. I've owned two copies of it, having worn out the first CD. by "worn out" I mean I had it in my car and discman so much it got scratched beyond playability despite the care I took of it...

Big pimpin baby. I won't ask, though I want to know, so I will think it to myself instead.

To self: "I wonder what will be in the box set. Will it be new, unreleased material, or will I just end up buying something that I already own just to get the DVD? Is it a re-ish? Re-mastered? Will Neko and Bob ever do a duet together? Maybe they'd fall in love and have the most talented love child on earth?"

Tino, I WISH!!!

It's so hard to put together these big reissue projects just for CD... we've discussed trying to get a "Slanted" vinyl thing together, but there just isn't the time. Maybe around the time of "Crooked Deluxe", if that ever happens...

of course, I totally wasn't expecting there to be a vinyl issue, but I just had this insane thought of a box set to rival Revenant's Charlie Patton box: a giant, cloth-bound monstrosity with ten records inside with full jackets (a la the Fela boxes) and a film cannister (or two or three) with the full contents of Watch Me Jumpstart and all the bonus footage in it/them, on cinema-ready film. make like 10 of 'em, and wallah! you have the most ridiculously over-the-top commemorative box EVER. eat your heart out, Rhino Handmade!

but yeah, on the non-fantasy tip, some deeeluxe vinyl Pave reissues would be awesome...

This is most likely the box set Bob wanted to put out 2 years ago (back when he was still on TVT) on Revenant, very interesting that you should bring them up. According to that boxset pipedream, Bob said he was going to reissue a bunch out-of-print eps. I won't say which ones, I would hate to spoil the suspense.

Patrick, does the GbV Greatest Hits album strictly collect the singles or does it include mostly the "album songs" (which have always been more popular, anyway... stuff like "Tractor Rape Chain", "Cut Out Witch", etc.)?

I'm not asking you to post a tracklist or anything. I remember a few years ago, I read a quote from Bob where he said he wanted a GbV Greatest Hits album to be about 12 songs (like the old Greatest Hits albums). But I can't really imagine something like that coming out. If only because some of those songs are pretty short.

We can't announce a track listing yet, but I will say it's more than 12 songs! Focus is on both single A-sides and the classic album tracks. All chosen and sequenced by Bob, naturally.

Yeah, originally I had fantasies of doing a Revenant-style thing. But things like that are truly labors of love and need to be just about the only thing you put out that year (or two years). Our overburdened art and production team just wouldn't be able to do it, with all the regular releases and associated stuff (promos, advance CDs, ads, posters stickers etc.) that they have to produce during the year.
