There's a brief Malkmus interview in Bang Magazine where he talks about the 3rd Jicks album. Apparently, they went off to the country for a month and finished an entire new record. Any truth to this or did Bang get it wrong? If it's true, could we see an early 2004 release?

i remember reading, on the Malkmus/Jicks site, something about the next album; an album title, i think. i can't remember it though, sorry.

perhaps they finally recorded the wonderful "Grab it and Gone"?
I think the title was "Under Your Impressions".

Wow, that would be great. I was actually wondering if were going to see any more singles/ep's from the record? Probably something will surface during the Radiohead tour.

if the interview is online, could you provide a link?
whether it's already recorded or not, i wonder how it will sound.
i always liked his keyboard-ie/drum machine-ie/weirdo-ie b-sides like "sin taxi", "blue rash intact", and "sex life of robison crusoe", and i've been hoping he'll put out a record like that one of these days.
but from how drastically different those songs are from 'pig lib', i highly doubt we'll get any of that. the 's/t' is probably the closest we're going to get (assuming we'd all like an album like that.)

that's not an alternate title for "open & shut cases", is it?

i believe there are 12 others. 17 counting the 'pig lib bonus ep'...
"sin taxi"
"leisurely poison"
"keep the faith"
"that's what mama said"
"alien boy"
"malay massaker"
"open and shut cases"
"blue rash intact (quarantined- hallucinations due to sever allergies)"
"good kids egg"
"polish mule"
"death and the maiden"
and "the sex life of robinson crusoe pt. 2"
then there's the 'bonus ep.'
am i missing any tracks?

you forgot the "Vague Space Demo" and the Peel Session of "Johnny One-Take." there's also new, not covers, songs like "Grab It and Gone," "Daddy," and a couple others they like to play live.

"Death and the Maiden" would likely be a Verlaines cover.

It IS the same song. It's on a Kiwi tribute CD(sorry I forget the title at the moment). Not the Jicks though. Just SM and a few other musicians.

Death and the Maiden is from the 2 disc set "21 Years of Flying Nun Records". Some damn good tunes by the Clean, Garageland, the D4, Betchadupa, Graeme Downes, and others. Worth tracking down.
