I've decided to move my music files to an external hard drive. Any recommendations on something (60-80 GBs) reliable and reasonably priced?

i've got a seagate freeagent (http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/portable/freeagent_go/). small, simple to use, and cheap. shop around and you should get a great deal.

60-80 gigs? really?

Think big, man! think of the future! LaCie makes great external 250 and 500GB drives. I like their stuff a lot.

Although a lot of the tech geeks I've talked to recommend Western Digital over Lacie. I've got a 250 GB Lacie drive that's about 18 months old, and it's starting to inexplicably turn itself off every now and then, which makes me a bit nervous. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing this awesome Western Digital 750 GB hard drive in Costco for a paltry $179 (http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-WDG1U7500N-MyBook-Essential/dp/B000RY2PLG/). If you can imagine yourself using this much hard drive space EVER, it really doesn't make any sense to get a drive that's one fifth the size for half the price.

This may be a bit redundant, but don't forget to back your shit up.
