Here is a list of sites that I know of:
Pitchfork
Tiny Mix Tapes
Lost at Sea
Dusted Magazine (a new find for me)
What sites have you relied on in order to find good music?

Pitchfork, Dusted Mag (glad you like it, Futureman), Neumu, Village Voice/City Pages, Trouser Press*
*This doesn't really have the newest music, but it's a great collection of biographical reviews.

FakeJazz is good too, though a little over-positive.

The only music reviews on the internet that don't make me wanna go Amish are by Mark Prindle (http://www.markprindle.com/) and Julian Cope (his Album of the Month column at http://www.headheritage.co.uk/unsung/albumofthemonth/).
Metal Sludge has good, entertaining reviews. Honorable mention for them.

I try to make it a point never to read record reviews, but I do like Neumu, though I'm a bit biased. I also just found a great website called Perfect Pitch Online (or maybe it's just Perfect Pitch) that I like a great deal, but mostly for the interviews. I've only looked at Pitchfork maybe three times in my entire life when I was at absolute rock fuckin' bottom. And Metal Sludge does have its moments...I've wasted countless hours reading their Long and Short of It section.

I'm sure I will incur much berating for this, but I read Pitchfork daily. It's a good source of news, and you can't beat 5 new reviews a day. For me, it's an invaluable source for new music. I'll admit, perhaps I'm a little too persuaded by what the fork says, as they have often reviewed records I love (ie. Kid Marine) very poorly. However, I also find their reviews to be entertaining, sometimes informative and usally fairly creative. At mininum, they are a dependable source of new "stuff" everyday, which is not too shabby for a web based resource.
I also concur that neume.net is an excellent site. Their weekly (sort of) mp3 is great, and has led me to many great bands, such as Spoon whom I've since become completely enamoured with, and others like Laub, Sleater-Kinney (I know, I should have been into them before, but it wasn't until I downloaded "Oh!", that I knew I must have "One Beat"), and many more. The movie reviews are good, as well as Micheal Goldbergs and other columns. Alright, that really sounds like I work for the site in some capacity. I don't.
Anyway, Joseph, please tear into me regarding Pitchfork. I am glad we agree on neumu though, it's nice to see we agree on something.

Well, you did use the "magic word"...I think Pitchfork is very poorly written -- humorless, pretentious and way too flowery...and the people who run it are extremely flakey and don't seem to enjoy fact-checking as much as they ought to... But, hey man, whatever floats yer boat.

I like a couple of their writers...except this one dickhead who reviewed the latest Tomahawk CD...what a prick!

Agreed.
Pitchfork is too busy trying to sound witty to actually write a decent review. They are almost always wrong. I mean shit, they like Interpol. I do go there for news though.
AMG is great. The reviews aren't very consistent, but they have a few good writers. Mainly I go there because they have so much information. If you didn't already know, allmusic.com

Why is that?
Because that's just what we do here.
here are a couple that pay a little more attention to the girl rockers out there, if you don't mind wading through a few other girl-oriented articles...

how novel. not taking the piss (though you're practically giving it away), get yourself a dictionary, perchance the Chi. Book of Style. absorb. don't mean to jab or chink your armor, I'm somewhat new here (again). Pitchfork's critique might not always be spot on, but those chaps produce entertainment on par with Derek & CLive. pure hilarity!
but hey, great website, Joseph!

I'm not always wild about their reviewing style, but Tiny Mix Tapes has hands-down the funniest, smarmiest news out there. it manages to be informing and hilarious without it devolving into the shittty disrespectful assholery of Buddyhead.

I'll admit that I've been burned a few times by Pitchfork. I've learned to trust my instincts a bit more as a result. At the same time, I need to be introduced to the music, and these sites are the best resources I have.
I tend to cross-list reviews and see what albums are getting consistently high marks. I steer clear of Rollingstone and Spin. I check out the college music chart at dustedmag.

That guy who does pitchfork is definitely a believer in its importance. I, however, does not share his enthusiasm for his opinions.

Brainwashed (www.brainwashed.com (http://www.brainwashed.com)) is one of my favorite music websites out there (it's up there with the 'Fork) and its weekly zine is also amusing/informative: the "Brainwashed Brain" (www.brainwashed.com/brain (http://www.brainwashed.com/brain)). I'm actually a little surprised that it hasn't been mentioned yet...they did a nice review of "Slanted and Enchanted: L+R" if anyone cares to look it up - they have a Search/Sitemap section to do that. They also have a neat little radio station (www.brainwashed.com/radio (http://www.brainwashed.com/radio)) amongst other things.

Well, isn't this a relic from the days before everyone was brazen enough to just post zipped files of entire albums on their blogs. Oh the halcyon internet of 2003, I still remember you.
Also, my comments about TMT have taken on a horrific irony given how astonishingly unfunny their news is now.
