View Full Version : Earthquake Glue Doppelganger
If, like me, you're dying to hear Earthquake Glue, you might confuse yourself by listening to my "cover" of the album. (Don't worry, I haven't heard it yet either!)

It has all the same song titles and imagined subject matter as GBV's upcoming release, and I made it all in one day.
bye-bye

My computer in Wavelab. All the equipment is shit except for a couple of good condenser mics.

Is the condenser mic going through an external mixer?

Well, a mic preamp, yeah.
was the whole doppleganger thing your idea? it's a fun thought...
and, what keys did you use? were the effects on them in the keyboard or an insert on your software?

The reason that I ask is that some sound cards have a preamp built into the card itself.
I was quite inspired by this, and did my own version of Thought for Food by The Books, a band who I've never heard before, it was fun, especially as I'd never write a song called Dead Fish Gains Power Of observation.

Yeah, I came up with it as part of the album-a-day project (http://crapart.spacebar.org/aad/). I made 17 albums before that one, so it starts to get repetitive without some themes. The previous one I recorded without being able to hear what I was playing or singing.
I don't think I actually played any keyboards on that one, I think I manually edited the MIDI which was playing through a roland SC-880. There weren't any effects on that stuff, but there was some of my homebrew plugins (http://destroyfx.org/) on other tracks.

Ladt, cool! Did you complete it all in one day? If so, send it to me (http://crapart.spacebar.org/aad/report.html) and I'll stick it up on the album-a-day site!
bitterfruit: yeah, those built-in mic preamps are ass, though. But who am I to complain about low-fi??
Yep, except I left out one of the songs accidentally and I didn't mix it down onto my computer until the following day, but it was all done. That still count? It's also very, very bad, but I suppose that's half the point.
