I find the site hilarious but Im just wondering exactly how much of each issue (Im guessing its released monthly) do they put on the site. Id like to know because its ridiciulously expensive to subscribe to if you live outside of the US (if theres 12 issues a year the yearly subscription works out to about £10 and issue).
But reading the articles on the site just how much Onion if any am I actually missing out on?:)

i really doubt yr missing much by reading it online. reading an entire issue of the onion would totally kill the humor (and would probably distract you from engaging the actual news)!

They basically put all of it online. The paper is given away for free in certain markets, and I bet the subscription is pretty much to cover postage (which is likely pretty damn expensive to the UK). Lots of free papers charge for subscriptions, but its not because there's a premium on content.
Also, each physical issue of the Onion contains listings for the market its distributed in, so you'd be spending money getting NYC (or Colorado, or wherever) event listings that mean nothin to you sent your way.
you're fine online

I had a subscription in high school, it was like $50 for the year and my copies were mailed from Madison (Are they still even headquartered there?) so I got to read lots of local ads for cow-things.
This was many years ago though, now I just wait for the yearly omnibus collections

Thanks everybody. What is that yearly edition you mentioned JS? Is it like a best of the onion book for that year?

It's called something like "the Onion's Finest News Reporting," since so much of the Onion's humor is US-centric, they may not even be available in the UK, but you could import them from the US Amazon. They collect every issue of the Onion in a year's span (all the humor parts anyways), it's really the best way to handle the backlog.

That may be true but the great strength of the stuff Ive been reading on their site is that its just absurd and therefore universally funny within itself. You don't really have to know the context of a lot it.
Its a bit like Monty Python being extremely successful in your country. It came out of Britain and had a Britishn feel to it but at the end of the day it was so surreal and absurd it was universal.:)
