Some of you have lauded their new album, which has not been officially released.

I wouldn't mind dropping some money on them and ordering their album from the label. I confess I know nothing about them. Could someone please give me the goods on this band? Any current bands producing a comparable sound? etc.?

Top-3-of-2003-material. incontrovertibly. "Happy" contends with kahimi karie's "trapeizeiste" & tangiers' "kiss my lips" for top cd filler all the year long.

"Wrens The Meadowlands (Absolutely Kosher) A band with a backstory that reads like a Chuck Palahniuk novel (male absurdity, futile ambition, adolescent maturity, acid wit and a Pixies cover-read more in the current issue of MAGNET). An album that's a masterwork. I want to send the rich dudes in Strokes/Rooney/Weezer/Phantom Planet to New Jersey for seven years and make them eat dirt and work McJobs until they come up with something half as wounded and inventive as The Meadowlands. They can't. Not out until September, but you can get an early copy by ordering the limited-edition version (the entire album, with four extra songs) at www.absolutelykosher.com. At $12.75, you are losing money every second you don’t place that order."

I said it in the "Best Album of the Year (so far)" thread a long time ago that this is the real deal. Still is. Spurious gave you the lowdown. The Meadowlands limited edition is still available. Don't miss this.

Yes, Secaucus is great, as is Silver (Grass, 1994).

Among my top 5 favorite bands of all time.

They are indeed great. I ordered the new album a while ago but haven't received it yet. Secaucus is truly recommended. Don't know Silver much.
