I'm 42 and I feel like I'm the only GBV fan in Bob's age group. I know most of my friends have abandoned listening to rock and are sitting around listening to Andrea Bocelli with their wives. Am I the only one here who still loves a great band like GBV and loves to get drunk and see the band live? To me they are the last great classic rock band!

Don't worry, old man. My ex-boyfriend is 39 and he's a huge GBVer. In fact, he used to be in a band on this very label and they toured with GBV a few years ago. Every time he tell me that was in the top three highlights of his life, I remember why I broke up with the bastard.
ONLY KIDDING....ggrrrrrrr...
Besides--Bob is, what now--sixty?!? He still knows how to make the little girls' panties juicy.
Well...the li'l girls who are aware of GBV...
Fuck ageism. I don't give a shit about age, I just care about good rockin' tonight.

I was pretty sure Chavez toured with them at one time...I could be wrong though of course.

well, I do, but I'll be 25 at the end of the month... I do know some older rockers though. at the club where I work, you see all sorts of older guys come out for some of the show. this one guy who looks like David Crosby (but older!) seems to be at all the hip shows. I think he might be a local journo...
when I saw GbV play last, Bob was saying how he was 44 years old and could still pull off wearing the "dick pants" (a pretty tight pair of slacks) for both the ladies and the dudes...
all I know is that every time I see a post by you, I can't help but repeat your handle toi myself as if I was ominously announcing some supervillain...

I'll be 40 at the end of the year, and have been a huge GBV fan for ten years. Luckily, I married a woman who doesn't mind road trips, buying me beer at shows and the magic that is Bobby P.

tino... re the David Crosby lookalike. It couldn't be Jim Sullivan, could it?

could well be. that would explain his omnipresence.
The only Boston-area music journos I know by sight are Brett Milano and Mike Baldino of the Phoenix... All the other ones are mysteries to me, invisible judges of the local rock scene. though they were all out in full force during the 'BCN Rumble (where I saw the Crosby-alike every night while working), so I probably just need to connect faces with names...

Fwiw, Brett Milano is a big GbV fan. A good guy to have in one's corner, I think.

If it makes you feel any better, I think guys in their 40s are hotter than guys my age (early 20s). I wish there were more older guys at GBV shows. The ones I've seen are usually married w/ kids.

Everyone always tells me that I look older than I am. And I won't bring any kids to the show. Can I get your digits?

I will be 42 on the official release day of "Earthquake Glue" (it's going to be a terrific birthday!!) and have been grooving on GBV since July 25th 1994, when I discovered them on the small stage at Lollapalooza. A half dozen shows scattered over the past nine years, and upwards of 40 assorted discs later and they're definitely one of my two or three favorite bands.
Two of my best buddies are also fans, one my age, the other near 40.
And at the recent Grand Rapids gig it appeared that most of the audience were in their early to mid 30s.
Age don't mean shit anyway. It's all babies and bubblebaths in my misty consciousness.

i am 42 and still love great bands like gbv. in fact, they've been my fave rockers for a good 8 years now, and i don't see anyone replacing them in the near future (why did pavement break-up?).
can't wait to see the boys in s.f. this month!
