Okay, here's the situation...
Tickets say the show starts at 6:30pm. Am I to assume the Jicks will be hitting the stage that early? Problem being, I paid 60 bucks to see the Jicks... not Radiohead. A three and a half hour drive after work will get me at the venue by 7:30pm.
60 bucks is 60 bucks but i'd rather not make the 7 hour return trip if I'm going to miss out on the jewel of the show. Tell me they won't hit the stage 'till after 8...

Any info appreciated!

In all likelyhood...

if the ticket says 6:30...the opening band will start no later than 7:15. Especially at a big ampitheatre/arena show like Radiohead.

word of advice...if you paid this much money/driving this far....
leave work early.

thats your only solution, unless you want to be disappointed.

The show started 6:30 pm on the dot. Still was in line waiting to get in. Only caught the last 2 songs of the set. Still liked what I heard tough.

sm + jix went on at 6:30. it was bizarre, especially since i haven't been to a venue like that since i saw r.e.m. in sept '99. the jicks played two new songs and a bunch off of pig lib as well as a couple off of s/t. it was a good set with a lukewarm response from the crowd. i found myself in the strange position of being the only person dancing maniacally to the opener. fortunately a few people asked about "who the fuck is stephen malkmus?"

one guy had an index card for me to write info on about jicks. i threw the pavement stuff and psoi on as well. fair and balanced...

radiohead: strange that they play so many sleepy tunes during the show right after each other. it felt like a bad pink floyd lazer show at times, but they played a bunch of really great renditions of their stuff. the lighting, etc. blew me away at first, then became a little repetitive. most interesting bit (of potentially apocryphal info) from ateaseweb.com was that some jicks joined 'head onstage for the first encore. i didn't see anyone, but i might be wrong.

they went on at 6:45 in vancouver... and were fabulous. I had actually only really gone to see them, but I have to admit Radiohead put on a damn fine show. I know what you mean about the lighting though, a lot of the same audience/strobing was really cool at first and then went on a little too long.
What did you think of the video for Radiohead? I thought it fairly uninspired...
