The picture is stunning.

In this day of living with popstars, made-up and prefabricated, like -Avril’s and Brittany’s and Christina’s- wearing hip hugging pants daring the viewer to look at them as sex symbols while maintaining a coquettish come hither look, knowing they are as shaved as a pornstar, Cat Power goes beyond that.

Here I am. This is me.

A photograph as bipolarizing as it is unifying.

I bought a copy of The New Yorker at Heathrow Airport on Thursday, and it had the picture in it. So it should be available at more cosmopolitan newsstands.

The article is right at the end of the book.

just picked up the New Yorker. forgot about the Cat Power article until I flipped to the picture. How does a photo shoot like this one work? does the photographer say something like,"okay chan, undo your jeans and make it look like your shirt is falling off" ??

there's a great Couch Flambeau song called "Models" that pretty much explains what goes on during a glamorous photo shoot. I'd recomend it to all aspiring photographers (or models).

I am not a music scene hipster. In fact, I am wearing a short sleeved dress shirt right now. But, I do get the New Yorker sent to me, weekly. OK, damn, that is the hottest photo I have ever seen. I am serious. You know in those movies where someone is transfixed and fascinated by a certain celebrity? Now I know.
