Fake can be just as good - Blonde Redhead
Faded:
You are free - Cat Power
I don't think I ever really loved that Decemberists album. There are a few great songs on it. Most of it is very mediocre in my opinion.

I couldn't agree more with yiou on the last Cat Power. when it first came out, I thought it was the best thing ever, but very quickly it diminished into nothing in my eyes, til it was eventually revealed to be a gigantic disappointment.
as for growers, the album "Tvi" by Yuji Oniki was immediately forgotten by me when I bought it a few years ago, but after a few recent listens, it's become a pleasant surprise. I also didn't like "One Part Lullaby" by the Folk Implosion til earlier this year, when it clicked and I realized how great it was.

ted leo's 'hearts of oak' has been a grower for me. every listen.
and although i think it's still a fantastic record, and probably one of my all-time favourites, blur's 'think tank' seems a little less amazing than my first listen.
i'm also very happy to announce that i have DISCOVERED MY BLOODY VALENTINE!!! 'ecstacy and wine' seems a little "eh, it's all right." however, 'isn't anything' and 'loveless' are pure bliss. better after every listen. woo. party.

mogwai's 'happy songs for happy people' is also a grower.

Non-refundable eh..... are they redeemable? Like Pepsi points? Can I get some crappy indie gear? Like a fanny pack with some obscure record labels logo on it? Seriously, that may just be the best show on the tele.

Think Tank is slowly growing on me. Electric Version is now unbearably grating.

Grew on me:
Throwing Muses - Throwing Muses (2003)
Pavement - Slanted
Ted Leo - Hearts Of Oak
Faded:
Death Cab For Cutie - We Have The Facts...
GBV - Universal Truths & Cycles
Ida - Will You Find Me
Portastatic - The Summer of The Shark (maybe....might just be taking a break, but it's strange considering it didn't leave my stereo for weeks at the beginning of the summer how I don't really crave it at all lately...guess we'll see)...
Grew:
The Blood Brothers "Burn, Piano Island, Burn"
Sole "Selling Live Water"
Radio 4 "Gotham"
Faded:
Jane's Addiction "Strays"
Alias "Eyes Closed EP"
And I just got into BRMC this year...holy shit do I dig. Can't wait for the new one next month.

Grower: Angels of Light, Everything is Good Here / Please Come Home
Fader: Radiohead, Hail to the Thief (and most other Radiohead albums). I'm just getting bored with their whole shtick.

lost edge:
- YLT "Summer Sun."
- Dandy Warhols "Welcome to the Monkey House." What the hell happened?!?
- BRMC "Take Them On, On Your Own" (Yes, already. Maybe about 4 good tracks...)
grew on me:
- Justin Timberlake "Justified." I suppose it helps to rip off Jacko.

Cat Power: What Would the Community Think

recent growers:
radiohead: httt (at first i thought it paled in comparison to sfa's phantom power, but i've changed my mind. although it lacks the lyrical subtlety, the songs are very catchy and so distant from the standard indie rawk i listen to most of the time).
decembrists: castaways, etc. i find the pitchfork comparisons to nmh simultaneously pandering and potentially apt. i can't really tell myself since i found out about in the aeroplane well after the fact. i don't think that it's a strong as that album, but i do like the metaphors/similes, etc. i might like jeff mangum's voice a bit more though. *in the aeroplane* is for me a continuous grower.
electronic music released this year is really growing on me. broadcast/manitoba and last year's boards of canada caught me off guard. i want to hear max tundra's most recent album too.
that new album by darkness. i heard a cd-r and was transfixed by its nostalgic capacity. and they'll probably not wind up in a beer commercial (unlike andrew w.k.)
lifetime growers:
john coltrane: ole'
everything by gbv
sinkers and stinkers:
i think the best if used by date has expired on brmc, although i still like the album a lot. same for blur. and (gulp) interpol. i still listen to totbl, but the live performance is a bit boring really.
and built to spill! i love those albums but doug martsch's overall feeling is just a bit tiresome.
