has anyone noticed a problem with the vinyl? mine seems to slow down on some songs, like secret star and mits and men.

Yes.
Side 2 of my copy is "eccentric", which (vinyl junkies know this) means it was pressed slightly out-of-center. The audible result is variation of pitch. It becomes more noticable as you get to the center (end) of each side.
I gave up trying to return records for this reason long ago - nobody at the record shops have the slightest clue about vinyl.
Fortunatly this doesn't happen too often.

Collectors' items, yo. Buy another one and don't open it. It's no upside-down plane on a stamp but in 75 years it'll do.

You can see when a record is pressed off center when it makes your stylus skate slightly from side to side.
Side 2 of my copy is off center as well. The whole vinyl pressing probably is. Sounds okay to me, though. I still wouldn't trade it for the CD.
